Today, we in education need to bring the 10 habits of inspiration alive!

Looking forward to the 2014/5 new students Midnightrabbi inspires,

ashreinu pic 5th nightThe biggest #struggle i see in #education today is maintaining the optimistic and positive energy we see in the Rosh Hayeshiva and daily applying the true reality to never give up on even one students success! Everyday, every staff member should have in mind 100% attendance and do what ever he can to make this reality. Messaging, phoning, preparing the day before, visit to dorms and true dedication to the students whole well being. If we truly look at them and talk to the students with love and positivity we will see 100% improvement for our alumnae and students 2014/5 and beyond! bs’d

CAM00104My goal after discussing much with many of the #students of 2013/4 for 2014/5 is building a more #interactive approach for any students i can access, and possibly suggest might #inspire the rest of the staff.

This is based on an inspiring class from powerful speaker whom i’m in contact with Rabbi Zecharia Wallerstein <- spiritual-dna check it out!

Really important to emphasize and not make fun of the power of the 7 habits from Stephen Covey if applied at this young age can really turn these guys lives around. The 7 habits of highly effective teens from Sean Covey is an example of changing the youth. However, I have seen the real benefit of #Jewishising this practical approach to the 10 habits which has a direct correlation to the 10 commandments which is so relevant to every Jewish mentch.

Sincere thanks to Shmuel Diamond of Diamond Images Photography for the donation of free books of the 7 habits and all the included editions and inspiration to begin this journey!

The bottom line point which the spirit of our yeshivah has so beautifully grasped is being proactive. The #Chesed program can be even more successful alongside the learning in the morning with the next 2 habits implicated. Begin with the end in mind is crucial to the interactive learning that each student can be tuned into their goals and plans in the form of their own mission statement. A clear mission for each personalized class can be created together. The students themselves should be asked to share what their inspired by, and not commonly be only given speech style teaching to them. As a growing program we can apply the 4th and 5th habit of win win and staff really listening to the students interests and passions. Then applying the 3rd habit of focusing themselves to a schedule they build and commit too. The continuous revisal of their #missionstatement and application in schedule can be aided by staff members they feel comfortable with.

Then the #rewards to motivate, e.g. sponsored meals like Superbowl, extending curfew an hour, internet time (filter or time for online use should be monitored) and other great  programs should be personally earned. The “F” (fair encouraging) word should be applied especially when they themselves feel they need help and sometimes request forcing to maintain their own growth motivated schedule.

This will lead with guidance to the 6th habit which is #synergy amongst the staff and students as a group the schedule is on a curve to success and motivation is increased with more out of the box creative thinking 1 & 45 = 46 to 1,000 etc,,,. The 7th habit is #renewal and this taps into times like Shabbos etc… to go over weekly progress with one of the staff in the relaxed setting of #Shabbat oneg. shtar starsConstant reading material, education from staff and a policy of no phones during learning and shabbos etc.. (should be worked out by the students themselves). This is the essence of the 8th habit of the students being helped to find their own voices e.g. they themselves with guidance can develop the social p.r. of the school. building the blogs, Facebook posts with encouragement that they will love more and more as it is what they are investing in. The 9th habit is controlling and removal of distractions and this will lead to the 10 habit of being a mentch by knowing your soul and G-dly potential.

CAM00368Obviously this needs more time to explain, but the main point is by #focusing their goals to #succeed in schedule they themselves believe in with the time factor they need healing from the damage the system caused and generals tests of our generation.
This is a #fortunate program and with Hashem’s blessing will go from strength to strength.
